best is one you have got with you
Is Gerber best knife? - Its good, very good but don't know about "best"
better steel than most --12C27
Entrek has some good blades
Fallkniven has good reputation
http://www.knifeworks.com/fallknivena1survivalknifeblacktefloncoatedlaminatedvg10blade.aspx
I always liked Cold Steel Recon Scout
http://www.coldsteel.com/39lrs.html
and for the money the old Ontario Pilots Survival knife is hard to beat
http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eCommerce/product.jsp?Mode=Text&Brand=&CatalogName=&PriceStart=&PriceEnd=&Feature=&SearchText=pilot+survival&list=10&range=11&order=PriceDesc&SKU=Q499
And the Leatherman multi-tool type has a lot going for it
What do I keep in my pack and in my car? Marine combat knife - One by Ontario and one by Camillous
Best? No. But inexpensive, I have 2, and I like the knife

It has potential if you are willing to stick with. But, be careful because when writing these type stories it is VERY easy to unconsciously copy scenes from other fantasy works.

Toward the end it's reminding me of Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, except not as well written.
When you say they're "weary" of her, do you mean "leery?"
One part of writing is the idea, which is not particularly original. The other part is how you write it--your style--and you need to improve your writing skills.

I did not like this product, was expecting something more. It's better on picture then the real one in your hands, it's more like primitive homemade good.

I had one brought down to me in Jamaica, and it is great to fillet fish, chicken. However, get yourself a hand guard for your left hand or be very careful when using -- this baby is sharp! Great case for storage.
